CHINESE LIVES IN LANCASHIRE: A PHOTOGRAPHIC PERSPECTIVE – Aug 2013 / Jan 2014
Through the help and collaboration of the Arts Council England, UCLan Confucius Institute and Lancashire Cultural Services working together for the purpose of visually documenting the people of Chinese ethnicity living in Lancashire. Portrait photography offers a privileged glance of the sitters and I hope that the people viewing the work and exhibition get as much from observing the photographs as I did taking them. It was an honour to work on the project as photographer to take studio portraits and learn more about the Chinese people living our community. By using a portable studio to attend events I was able to experience a taste of Chinese heritage and celebrations, which were equally embraced by the local Lancashire people and engage with the subjects and their stories.
